Below are linked some discussions which describe the same thing. However, after searching the web for this issue I found out it's more widespread than just one batch sent here to Finland. We figured it might be just a bad batch sent to the retailer here in Finland. So I went back and we checked every single cable they had and it was always the same. I took it home and noticed that it too had that moldy smell. The salesman noticed the smell as well so he replaced it with one that was sold seperately. The machine itself however did not have any odor on it so I took the cable to the store I bought it from. It was strong enough to stick to the plastic cover the machine came in. (Foul as in moldy, not the usual smell of new stuff.) The smell seemed to originate from the 2 meter USB-C charging cord and sure enough, that was it.
